FAQ

Why is Stainless Steel Safe?

Safety is at the heart of everything we do.

All our pieces are made from premium food-grade stainless steel (304), which is naturally non-toxic, BPA-free, phthalate-free, and free from harmful chemicals found in many plastics.

Stainless steel doesn’t leach, warp, or break down over time, making it one of the safest materials for growing little ones.

Why choose stainless steel over plastic or silicone?

Stainless steel is incredibly durable, easy to clean, and doesn’t absorb flavours, smells, or stains. Unlike plastic, it won’t crack, fade, or release toxins even after years of use.

We also love that it’s a low-tox, long-lasting choice that supports a more sustainable home (one plate can last from babyhood to big kid years!).

Will the illustrations fade or rub off?

No. All our Aussie animal illustrations are precision laser-etched, not painted or printed. This means the designs are permanently cut into the steel, they’ll not peel or fade, even with daily dishwasher cycles or outdoor adventures.

Are your plates and cups dishwasher and microwave safe?

Our stainless-steel pieces are 100% dishwasher safe and built for everyday use. Because stainless steel cannot go in the microwave, we recommend warming food in a microwave-safe dish and serving it on your Sol Kids plate. The steel cools quickly, which is great for little hands and mouths.

Do the plates come with lids or bags?

Every Sol Kids plate comes in its own organic cotton drawstring bag, perfect for storage, gifting, daycare, picnics, or travel. The Cups and Bowls Come in a box.

Currently, our plates and bowls don’t come with lids, but we’re working on future accessories based on parent feedback.

What ages are Sol Kids products suitable for?

Our tableware is designed for toddlers, and young children. The lightweight design is perfect for early eaters, while the durable stainless steel and fun illustrations make them loved by big kids too. Many families use the plates well beyond toddlerhood.
